I said all that when Hayne threw the ball on the ground as if it was a bomb !

That was a monumental game - no shame on either side IMO - petty criticisms of the man in the middle covered in dirt and racked with fatigue and pain by armchair critics is wearying.

 

A noble contest should not be reduced to a soap opera by little people.

 

I was particularly irritated by Andrew Johns (a little man) spray at the NSW team.

 

hello? they gave it their best shot, they won the first game comprehensively but they were playing against an opposition equally committed to success and equally disappointed with the alternative.

 

For me Andrew Johns is an excellent example of poor leadership - instead of encouraging, he damns.

 

I can't imagine how that will encourage those players to lift the huge step they need to be even competitive in the final game.

 

 

They deserve better.

 

This culture of criticism was to be seen after the first game when demands were made to sack the Maroons coach - it's a universal culture. 

 

Maybe those kinds of critcs should be forced to read their malodorous remarks for the next seven days in the light of the Maroons win under that same coach?

I reckon the relatively unsung hero was Dane Gagai and he punched above his weight again, just like last year.

 

An asset to any team IMO

Many excellent performances in that game:

 

Boyd playing with a broken thumb

Tedesco superb

Cordner playing with a torn calf

Thurston being Thurston

Maguire punching above his weight.

 

You feel bad not making particular mention of each and every player.

 

Clean and fast for 80 minutes Wow!!

 

You could feel the game swing about twenty minutes before the end - I reckon they must have all been exhausted about then but the Qld team still managed to lift a gear.

 

There is no shame in being beaten by two points two minutes from full time.

 

 

 

Now, if only our rugby union teams could display the same spirit!!!!
